How it works

SQMAS has been developed to assist all types of organisations to manage their risks, quality performance, customer requirements and long-term sustainability.

SQMAS has been developed with its prime intention being for the smaller businesses to be able to:

a) Demonstrate conformance to a standard
b) Assess its risks and opportunities
c) Ensure customer requirements are met
d) Develop business processes to manage all areas of the business
e) Provide documented evidence of a simple, robust, effective and easy to use QMS

How do I Implement SQMAS?

There are six simple stages to implement SQMAS based on six Key documents. This is based around the usual Plan, Do, Check, Act model of management systems.

Specifically, the following documents are required.

  • Step 1 - Quality Review © – to identify any aspects of the business that may impact on the eventual quality of the products or services delivered to customers and to address business risks which may affect the organisation's ability to deliver to customer requirements
  • Step 2 - Map out key business processes – to identify the distinct activities of your business and resources required to help identify controls and checks needed to be put in place to meet customer requirements and reduce business risks
  • Step 3 - Quality Policy – a statement to demonstrate the organisation's commitment to Quality Management and provide a quality service to customers
  • Step 4 - Quality Objectives – SMART objectives to be set to drive business improvements
  • Step 5 - Process review, checking and monitoring – monitoring and corrective action checklist © to ensure that checks are being made on service / product delivery, that customers' requirements are met and understood and that work is being carried out consistently and correctly. This takes into account corrective and preventive actions to rectify any shortcomings in service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Step 6 - Management review – to annually review the effectiveness of the system. This helps the organisation to measure how successful the system is at meeting customer requirements
